Our systems were getting old and tired and Information System Services has done a complete system overhaul for us. This upgrade included purchasing an office file server and new office computers. Bill setup our Microsoft Server and office Domain.

After migrating all our office programs and data to our new server, Bill strongly advised that we have proper backups. We have gone from a medical office with no data backups, to one with both an onsite backup and also cloud backup. If our office systems are ever compromised due to a catastrophic failure like fire, flood or even just theft, we can always restore our data from the cloud backup service offered by Information System Services. Back in 2010, we were operating multiple businesses out of our home which included a staff complement in excess of 50 employees. In making plans to move into larger office space, we realized we would also need help with setting up our office computers and networks. Even though our company is in Ontario, we were acquainted with Information System Services and owner Bill Hubble. We called Bill to review what our current IT service provider was proposing/quoting, to see if he felt it was a fair price. We explained our current IT service provider was going to install a wireless network for all our office computers, including a file server.

After speaking with Bill, he asked what type of operating system we currently had on our office computers. When we told him they all had Microsoft Windows XP Home edition, he advised that to work with an office Domain they would all need to be upgraded to Windows Professional. Bill also advised us not to go with a complete wireless system as he felt we would have lots of connectivity issues. He suggested when doing the office renovations, we should run network cabling to all our offices for our office computers and printers. Bill recommended we contact our current IT service provider to make sure their price included things like upgrading our computer operating systems, server configuration and Domain setup, and joining all the office computers to the new office Domain.

When we checked this with our IT service provider, to our surprise none of these things had been taken into consideration.

Bill offered to quote on this project and fly in from Saskatchewan and setup our network, server and all our computer systems. He assured us that he could do the installation, as well as provide ongoing IT support remotely from their office in Regina, Saskatchewan. While we had some concerns with the thought of this remote support, we felt that his service to this point had already saved us lots of hidden costs, by having us question exactly what our IT service provider would be offering for their quoted price. We were not educated in any respect with regards to our company’s needs. Bill was patient and listened to what we thought our needs were. He was careful to take the time to research options for us and explain what he felt best suited our needs at that time, not forgetting the desire we had to continue to grow our business. Our comfort level was such that we decided to accept Information System Services quote and hired them to setup our office network infrastructure, and provide ongoing IT service to North Key Construction.

It has been a number of years since we contracted Information System Services and they are still our IT service provider. They are great to deal with, provide excellent IT support, remain extremely competitive from a price perspective, and are conscience of keeping costs low for their customers.

To summarize our experience briefly, IT is a necessary area of our business that we must oversee and account for but, leave to the professionals to handle. Information System Services met with us and discussed installing an office file server and setting up an office domain and centralize our computer data. This would allow for easier data backups.

Information System Services performed as advertised. They setup our office domain and centralized our files on the file server. They configured shared directories for us and most important, they put a backup strategy in place for us. We have an onsite backup of our data and also use Information System Services’ Hybrid-Cloud backup service for our offsite backup. Our offsite backups are managed and monitored by Information System Services 24/7 and this certainly gives us piece of mind knowing our data is protected.

Prior to Information System Services providing our IT support, we were continually experiencing network issues in our Service department. Our network connections would drop regularly. Problems were created whenever we were flashing vehicle computers. This was costly to our dealership.

After contacting Information System Services, they came in and reviewed our Service department network infrastructure. Bill recommended that we remove the multiple network switches that were installed, and run new network drops from a central switch to each service technician’s workstation. After replacing the network drops, Information System Services centralized our switch and installed a new firewall. As a result, our Service department network is now very stable.

At a later date, during a period of extensive renovations to multiple departments, we planned on replacing our phone system with a new VOIP system. Although SaskTel was performing this installation, we asked Bill to work with and assist SaskTel with upgrading our networks and cabling. Our office did not have a true file server, and although we had a server, it was not being used. Bill recommended we install a server operating system on this server and put it to use, advising that it would be a more secure network environment and would allow for better electronic file storage. Bill was also adamant that we implement a comprehensive data backup strategy, as we currently had no data backup. Bill configured a Domain and file server for Crestview Chrysler and then joined our computers to the office Domain to centralize our files and allow for easier backups. We now have Information System Services Business Continuity Solution, allowing us to quickly spool up our server in the cloud if we should have a server failure or to quickly restore any file deleted in error or corrupted.

We would recommend Information System Services to any business looking for great IT support. They are easy to work with, responsive to our needs, and are solution focused but also conscience of their customer’s bottom line.
